Tell HN: Amazon forgot how to write and test code

On an older but perfectly serviceable PC with 16GB RAM, Amazon.com idles at 20% CPU and will spike to 80-100% when scrolling. The screen tears and typing sometimes takes seconds before characters appear.

This is hilariously bad and a harbinger of the ongoing decline of the industry right now.

There are likely 50,000,000 lines of code between your hardware and the Amazon.com Javascript code that is idling at 20% CPU, and a minute fraction of it has been written by Amazon employees.

You're standing on a gigantic pile of crud, and blaming the little cherry that sits on top for tasting bad.

this is more a symptom of the pilled who decided eyes-free coding is a good idea, some of us are using Ai more effectively to improve our code

Amazon's customer-facing software has always been quite terrible across the board IME, even before LLM coding. The Alexa app, for example, is awful

truth, I quit using / buying Amazon almost 10 years ago, so my comment is based on the general trend I've seen across the big companies who nom'd the ai pills like a food obsessed dog
